Design and Built:

The design of this Smartphone is very similar to the Sony Ericsson Xperia active, but there are few changes in it. Xperia Go is little bit taller than active which is done to accommodate the big screen. Sony Xperia Go is lot slimmer than other Smartphone but it is not very compact. The back panel is made of plastic and it feels while handling it. Below the capacitive screen there are three keys which are for Home, back and Menu control. On the left hands side there is a 3.5mm audio jack which is protected by plastic. On the right side, there is microUSB pot is provided for charging and file transfer with volume rocker. The power button is at the top of the phone. The back panel consists of 5MP camera.

Display:

The size of the HVGA LCD capacitive screen is 3.5 inches (480 x 320 pixels resolution) and supports 16M colors. The pixel density is around 165 ppi which is not at all good enough for any mid-range Smartphone. The screen is protected with scratch resistant glass and is water (up to 1m and for 30 minutes) and dust proof. Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine tries to improve the display but is not that great. Up to 4 fingers can be used for multi-touch.

Features:

It comes with Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but the update for Ice Cream Sandwich update is available. The OS is fast and responsive and doesn’t generally lag. The internal storage is of 8GB but only 4GB can be used by users. The provision for external memory makes up for this which is of32GB. For connectivity GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v3.0 with A2DP and EDR, and microUSB port. Support for GPS is also available.  2G and 3G are easily supported by this Smartphone. The inbuilt music player is very good with interactive UI.

Performance:

This Smartphone is powered with NovaThor chipset and uses Cortex-A9 Dual-core 1 GHz processor with 1GB of RAM. The processor is may not be that powerful but since this is a mid-range handset, it is good enough for standard use. 1080p videos refused to play in this phone but playing 720p doesn’t have any issues. For GPU Mali-400 is given which is for standard use. 1305 mAh will provide 520 hours on 2G and 460 hours on 3G.

Problems:

Physical camera control is missing and there is no secondary camera.  The output of the loudspeaker was not at all good which is expected from a Sony Smartphone. Support for the DivX and XviD video format is also missing.

Build:

Sony Xperia T has got little bit of Samsung SIII design in it but it is not same as Samsung SIII. The design of this handset is completely new and looks fresh with curvy edges. The glossy feel in the earlier Xperia handset is not present in this handset and it is more rugged than its predecessor. It is one of the most rugged handset Sony has ever made. It is very light and comfortable to hold. Overall the build and design is quite good compared to other Sony Smartphone’s.

Display:

The capacitive touch screen of this handset supports 16M colors. The size of the display is 4.55 inches with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution and 323 ppi pixels density. 4 fingers can be used for multi-touch purpose. This handset is also shatter proof and is protected with scratch-resistant glass. Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine improves the display drastically and it also uses Timescape UI. The interface is very responsive and pinching and zooming features is fast.

Features:

Sony Xperia T uses latest Android operating system Ice Cream Sandwich v.4.0.4. Ice Cream Sandwich OS has received rave reviews from all the critics as well from users. On the back panel there is 13MP camera which is very good and supports 4128×3096 pixels with face detection, image stabilization, touch focus, geo-tagging, autofocus and LED Flash feature.  The output of the primary camera is clear, vibrant, colorful and full of details. Using the primary camera, amazing 1080p videos at 30 fps can be captured    with the help of video stabilizer, continuous autofocus and video light. The secondary camera is of 1.3Mp and is able to capture 720p videos at 30fps.  For connectivity GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v3.1 A2DP, NFC and microUSB port is provided. 3G support is also available but 4G is missing from this handset which is very disappointing as many Smartphone’s under the same price ranges provide this feature.

Performance:

This Smartphone uses Qualcomm Snapdragon Dual-core 1.5 GHz processor with 1GB of RAM. This phone by no mean slow and it must be admitted that the sped is up with the likes of Samsung Galaxy S III. The GP is powered with Adreno 225 which gives awesome videos while watching videos and playing high-definition games. The internal memory is around 16GB but external memory can be expanded up to 32GB with then help of microSD. 1850 mAh Li-On battery can work for one complete day.

Design and Build:

The design of this Smartphone is similar to any other member of the Xperia family. The angular curvy edges can be also found in this handset. On the top Sony logo is painted. This Smartphone’s lacks a transparent strip but it gives this phone a new refreshing look. The built quality is very good but the only problem with the design is its thickness which is not good for a high-end handset. Below the capacitive screen users will find three distinct capacitive keys which but it requires little bit of pressure. On top of the handset three ports are provided which are microUSB, 3.5mm audio jack and microHDMI which are covered to protect from water and dust. On the left edge, microSD and microSIM card slot are provided. On the right edge, power button, dedicated camera button and volume rocker is given.

Display:

The size of the capacitive touch screen is around 4.3 inches and provides 1280×720 pixels resolution. 10 fingers multi-touch feature is provided which is very good. Since this is argued phone it is dust and water resistant and is certified by IP57. There are few parameters with respect to the water proof feature which is it can withstand up to 1meter depth and for 30 minutes. The screen is protected with scratch resistant shatter proof glass. The display is terrific as it uses Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine.

Features:

Sony Xperia acro S uses Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. The internal memory is of 16GB but only 11GB can be used. The support for external memory is of 32GB which is good enough for everyday use. The primary camera is of 12MP and is of 4000×3000 pixels. With the help of video stabilizer and continuous autofocus 1080p videos can be captured at 30fps. The secondary camera is of 1.3Mp and is able to capture 720p videos at 30fps.

Performance:

Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset is used in Sony Xperia acro S with Dual-core 1.5GHz processor and 1GB of RAM. Adreno 220 is used for GPU. Unlike many other current Smartphone’s which offers quad-core processor this Smartphone is not that slow as it may seem. It is good enough for watching high-definition videos and heavy graphical games. 1910 mAh battery can give around 290 hours of stand-by time in 2G and 310 on 3G networks. The major problem with the battery is that it can be accessed by users, so replacing it is not an option.

Design and Build:

Samsung Ativ Tab is very slim and light and can be felt while holding it in the hands. This tablet has got a very weird name because “Vita” was not available as it is taken by Sony and backwards of Vita is “Ativ”. It weighs only 570g and width of 8.9mm. User won’t feel tired while using this tablet. The edges are curvy and smooth. Rugged design also makes it quite unique among Windows tablet. The design is very similar to the Samsung Galaxy Tab which hit the market recently.

Display:

The size of this IPS LCD display is 10.1 inches and supports 1366 x 768 pixels resolution. The brightness of this tablet is around 400nits. Due to the bold colors used in this tablet the screen looks very refreshing. The screen is quite responsive and fast but shows signs of smearing. But apart from this the tablet screen is very good.

Feature:

Samsung Ativ Tab uses Windows RT operating system which is the tablet version of Windows 8 operating system. Windows RT is not a full version of Windows 8 and users will surely miss some of most  amazing features of the operating system but the cost will be slightly less than the full version OS. The other most disappointing feature of this tablet is that users can only download apps from the Microsoft Marketplace. If a user likes some good apps which they want to install in this tablet they won’t be able to do it. But in this version of OS users will be able to use the Microsoft Office 2013 which is provided by default. In terms of connectivity several features are incorporated in this tablet such as NFC, Bluetooth v4.0, Wi-Fi, microSD, microHDMI, and USB v2.0. On the back panel 5Mp camera is provided with LED Flash support. The secondary camera is of 1.9MP which will be good enough for video chatting purpose.

Performance:

Samsung Ativ Tab uses Snapdragon S4 1.5GHz dual-core Krait processor with 2GB of RAM. This may seem little slow to those users who knows for the fact that Google Nexus uses quad core processor. According to Samsung this tablet will startup without any lagging which needs to be seen. It heats up little bit after using I for a long time which needs to be addressed by Samsung before its full launch.

Overall Samsung Ativ Tab is a good tablet; if users are expecting something extraordinary they will be disappointed with it. If Samsung is able to keep the price of this tablet low it might be a very attractive option for the users.

Design and Build:

The design of the new Lumia 920 is similar to its predecessor. Different colors of Lumia 920 are available such as Yellow, Lipstick Red, and Slate Grey. The body is also same as Lumia 900 which was made of polycarbonate. The dimensions of this handset are 130.3 x 70.8 x 10.7 mm respectively and its weight is around 185g. The chrome button is manufactured with ceramic which resist this phone from any type of scratches.

Display:

The size of the capacitive touch screen is 4.5 inches and supports 768 x 1280 pixels resolution with 332 ppi pixel density. Ike many other Lumia handsets this handset is also protected with Corning Gorilla Glass and with another interesting feature which is PureMotion HD display. It also supports 16M colors which mean that watching High-definition videos and games will be more than fun. The display is improved with the help of fast refresh rate which decreases the flickers on the screen. With ClearBlack display filter viewing this phone in various environmental conditions is clear.

Features:

As discussed earlier Lumia is powered with the latest version of Windows OS which is 8. There are lots of interesting features in the OS and one of them is the offline amps which is very helpful. The new customizable home screen is very good and tiles are available in three different sizes. Modification with the UI can be done very easily without changing much. On the back panel there is 8MP camera which uses the same algorithm as the PureView Smartphone. After the disappointing camera in Lumia 900, Nokia seems to have tried to improve it. Other features of the camera are Image stabilization, autofocus and LED flash. Secondary camera is of 1.3MP which is standard among many other Smartphone’s. 1080p videos scan be captured with this camera and the output is also very good.

Processor and Connectivity:

Nokia Lumia 920 is powered with Qualcomm Snapdragon dual core processor which is clocked at 1.5GHz. This processor is used in many other high-end Smartphone’s such as Samsung SIII and HTC One X. 1Gb RAM is provided to make the full use of the amazing processor. Adreno 225 is sued for GPU purpose. The internal memory is around 32GB and there is no provision for the external memory. For connectivity GPRS, Bluetooth v3.1 A2DP, EDGE, NFC and microUSB is provided. This Smartphone also supports 3G and 4G network. The battery is of 2000mAh and it can last for a complete day according to the Nokia. Another very interesting fact about their battery is that Wireless charging is possible in this handset.

Design and Build:

The design of the Smartphone is quite good and is very different from the Sony Xperia S handset. The rear end has got aluminum touch and is very big. If users are expecting something in the line if Sony Xperia S they will be disappointed but the new handset Xperia Ion is very stylish. The 4.55 inch display is very big to hold and carry but it can be used by one hand without any problem. Carrying it in the pocket is not at all easy.  Under the display there are four sensitive keys. The screen is protected with scratch-resistant glass. It is advisable to use some kind of screen protector for the screen. On the right hand side of the phone various keys are provided such as volume rocker, camera button and power button. On the left hand side microUSB and HDMI port is made available. Normal and microSIM are supported by this handset.

Features:

Sony Xperia Ion is similar to the Sony Xperia S handset with respect to the inbuilt features; the only difference between them is the size of the display screen which is around 4.3 inch for Sony Xperia S handset. The capacitive touch screen provides 1280 X 720 pixels resolution but the color is not that vivid as its competitors. The unavailability of the Super AMOLED screen is solely missed. Sony’s Bravia Engine makes watching videos more enjoyable and fun. 16GB of internal storage is provided by default but only 13.2GB can be used. For extra memory 32GB slot is also provided which was missing in the Xperia S handset. Sony Xperia Ion comes with latest Android operating system (Ice Cream Sandwich). Two cameras are provided in this handset. The 12MP primary camera can capture 4000×3000 pixels without any difficulty. LED flash and autofocus feature also makes the camera more powerful. The secondary camera on the other hand is around 1.3MP which can capture 720p videos at 30fps.

Performance:

This Smartphone is powered with Qualcomm Snapdragon dual core processor clocked at 1.5GHz. 1GB RAM makes this handset very responsive and fun to use. Within the same price range many Smartphone makers are providing quad core processor which is a big disappointment in this phone. For improving graphics, Adreno 220 is provided.  1900mAh Li-on battery is used to power this massive phone.

Overall Sony Xperia Ion is a very good handset with great speed and performance. Few of the problems which are associated with this handset are slow processor, unavailability of AMOLED screen which hampers the display and the cost of the handset. Apart from that all the features are very good.

Built and Design:

Motorola Atrix HD may not be called as unique handset but it is quite different from other handset. The edges are covered with aluminum ring and the edges are rounded. On the Kevlar back battery is provided. On the right hand side, power button and volume rocker is provided. On the top of the phone microUSB, microHDMI and 3.5mm audio jack is given. On the left hand side, microSIM and microSD card slots are provided. Unlike many other handsets, this Smartphone doesn’t provide any physical keys. The dimension of this handset is 133.5 x 69.9 x 8.4mm respectively and weighs around 140g only.

Display:

The 4.5 inch capacitive touch screen provides 1280 X 720 pixels of resolution and supports 16M colors. The screen is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass and uses their Motorola UI. Another important feature of this is that the body is Splash resistant. The colors are vivid, clear and bright. Viewing the screen under the direct sunlight is not a problem.

Performance:

Atrix HD is powered with Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.4 operating system with Motorola skin. Some tweaks with the widgets by the Motorola are really impressive. Motorola Atrix HD uses Qualcomm Snapdragon dual core processor clocked at 1.5GHz. 1GB of RAM is also provided which makes it more fun and enjoyable to use it. 8GB of internal storage is provided which may seem little less but external memory can be upgraded to 32GB with microSD card slot. Adreno 225 is used for GPU. 1780mAh battery is used to power this handset which is not good enough for this kind of Smartphone’s. Another very disappointing feature of this battery is that it is irremovable.

Features:

The primary camera is of 8MP and can capture high quality snaps (3264×2448 pixels) with the help of LED flash and autofocus feature. 1080p videos can be taken at 30fps without any problem. Many of the captured images are sharp and covered lot of details under sunlight. But the same cannot be said about the camera in dark conditions. The secondary camera is about 1.3MP which is good enough for video chatting and similar other activities. For connectivity purpose GPRS, EDGE, WLAN and Bluetooth v 2.0 is provided. For file transfer microUSB 2.0 can be used.

Overall Atrix HD is an amazing Smartphone with lots of interesting features and power. This Smartphone also doesn’t have any dedicated camera button unlike many other headsets. FM radio is also missing from this phone. This handset may have problems but if users can overlook it the they wont be disappointed with it.

Build and Design:

Huawei Ascend P1 is completely made of shiny plastic and looks very cheap. The plastic may be solid but it is near the likes of Samsung, Apple or LG. the plastic is slippery but it can be handled quite easily in the hands. The slot for SIM is available on top of the phone and microSD can be found on the right hand side under the power button. Despite its huge size Huawei has done a tremendous job of building the Smartphone in such a manner that user won’t be having any problem while using the user interface or any buttons. The dimension of this phone is 127.4 x 64.8 x 7.7 mm respectively and weighs around 110 only.

Display:

The size of the screen is 4.3 inches and uses Super AMOLED touch screen. The resolution of the display is on the lower side which is 960 X 540 pixels only with 256 pixel density. Like many other Smartphone’s this handset screen is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass. The default brightness of the screen is not good under the direct sunlight but with tweaking of the display settings it can be improved.

Feature:

Huawei Ascend P1 comes with Android Ice Cream Sandwich operating system with 1GB RAM. It uses Cortext-A9 dual core processor cloaked at 1.5GHz. The UI is responsive, fast and smooth. For GPU PowerVR SGX540 is provided. The internal memory is only 4GB but the support for external memory is 32GB which can be used with the help of microSD slot. The primary camera is of 8MP with 3264×2448 pixels and dual-LED flash and autofocus. Another very interesting feature of the camera is HDR and face and smile detection. The images are clear, vibrant and full of details. But the same cannot be said under low light environment as t looses some of the details in those images. This problem is quite common among many other high-end Smartphone’s. 1080p videos can be captured at 30fps without any problem. The secondary camera is of 1.3Mp and is quite common in other Smartphone’s. For Connectivity all the common features are available such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v3.0, GPRS, EDGE, and microUSB. 3G is also supported by this handset. Radio and GPS feature is also included. The Li-On battery is of 1670mAh and is good enough to last for one day.

Overall Huawei Ascend P1 is a good phone but nothing extraordinary. Few of the problems with this handset is its cheap look, lacks proper storage and unattractive camera. But on the bright side, some of the features are very good like Dolby sound enhancement which cannot be found on other Smartphone’s.
