Sony Xperia Ion is one of the latest Smartphone by Sony. Sony after parting ways with Ericsson has come up with some of the most amazing Smartphone’s and is giving quite a competition to other giants of the market such as LG, Samsung, and Motorola. This phone comes with lots of interesting features which will surely amaze any users of different age groups. The size of this phone is phone is similar to Samsung Galaxy S III and HTC’s One X. Lets discuss all the features of Sony Xperia Ion.
Design and Build:
The design of the Smartphone is quite good and is very different from the Sony Xperia S handset. The rear end has got aluminum touch and is very big. If users are expecting something in the line if Sony Xperia S they will be disappointed but the new handset Xperia Ion is very stylish. The 4.55 inch display is very big to hold and carry but it can be used by one hand without any problem. Carrying it in the pocket is not at all easy. Under the display there are four sensitive keys. The screen is protected with scratch-resistant glass. It is advisable to use some kind of screen protector for the screen. On the right hand side of the phone various keys are provided such as volume rocker, camera button and power button. On the left hand side microUSB and HDMI port is made available. Normal and microSIM are supported by this handset.
Features:
Sony Xperia Ion is similar to the Sony Xperia S handset with respect to the inbuilt features; the only difference between them is the size of the display screen which is around 4.3 inch for Sony Xperia S handset. The capacitive touch screen provides 1280 X 720 pixels resolution but the color is not that vivid as its competitors. The unavailability of the Super AMOLED screen is solely missed. Sony’s Bravia Engine makes watching videos more enjoyable and fun. 16GB of internal storage is provided by default but only 13.2GB can be used. For extra memory 32GB slot is also provided which was missing in the Xperia S handset. Sony Xperia Ion comes with latest Android operating system (Ice Cream Sandwich). Two cameras are provided in this handset. The 12MP primary camera can capture 4000×3000 pixels without any difficulty. LED flash and autofocus feature also makes the camera more powerful. The secondary camera on the other hand is around 1.3MP which can capture 720p videos at 30fps.
Performance:
This Smartphone is powered with Qualcomm Snapdragon dual core processor clocked at 1.5GHz. 1GB RAM makes this handset very responsive and fun to use. Within the same price range many Smartphone makers are providing quad core processor which is a big disappointment in this phone. For improving graphics, Adreno 220 is provided. 1900mAh Li-on battery is used to power this massive phone.
Overall Sony Xperia Ion is a very good handset with great speed and performance. Few of the problems which are associated with this handset are slow processor, unavailability of AMOLED screen which hampers the display and the cost of the handset. Apart from that all the features are very good.
